Upon birth to this
earthly planet, we are bestowed with natural talents and gifts. Many
of us go an entire lifetime and don't even discover them. But for those
of us, who do recognize them, it is the mere thought and an action that
is taken to self-promote them. Someone once told Ms. Vida Guerra that,
“No one is going to come knocking at your door wanting you to
display this talent…you have got to do it yourself”.
The 23 year-old, intelligent and vivacious Havana, Cuban has done just that without giving up the goodies. The popularity and sex appeal of loyal Brit magazine FHM catapulted Vida into an overnight success internationally. P-Diddy & Nelly gave the up and coming eye candy room to “Shake Ya Tailfeather and Cassidy reaffirmed that being in pursuit of this one of a kind beauty in “It Get's No Better”. Even Dave Chappell could not resist Ms. Guerra's illuminating presence and saw fit to cast her not once but twice on his groundbreaking Comedy Central show. There is more to this lingerie-laced beauty, as she is going above and beyond the industry stereotypes. I encourage you to read further to get a clear perspective of a starlet in the making…introducing Ms. Vida Guerra. MW: How did you get started in the industry? V: Basically my ex-boy friend…well not him but his friend submitted my pictures and they called me and they called me and everything just took off. MW: When you say they? You mean? V: Well, my ex-boyfriend and his friend. MW: Submitted the pictures to whom? V: Oh FHM, oh I am sorry. (Laughter) MW: You were voted 2003 Girl of the Year for FHM. This an international honor. V: I know. It was very flattering. MW: Are you surprised that your success has come in this manner? V: Well no…the thing is that last year, I got voted in but since FHM said, “I wasn't a celebrity”. They couldn't put me in as one of the girls but this last year I was added in. I'm pretty excited about that. MW: Knowing what you know about the un-fair treatment of some women in this industry. What has been your approach towards avoid shaky deals, unreliable persons or leeches? V: Well, you're going to have all different sorts of people hanging around. The thing that is basically hard for us girls is like basically individuals want to get with you…right. So they try and use some kind of line to get you to do things…to maneuver you...to get in there (ya know). You just need to distinguish who is real and who's not. MW: Did you have a strategy once all this success started to happen? V: No. At first, it just happened like overnight. I was in it. Then after they (FHM) received some many calls and people wrote to FHM, I just took it. I never expected to be at this level. I was just taking it day by day. That's just my motto, “I just live for today”. I mean there are goals I want to accomplish. But you have to take little steps; I think I've accomplished a lot with the last year. MW: I would say so making a major transition from a Loan Officer in Perth Amboy, NJ. V: Yeah, a major transition. (Laughter) MW: Let's move forward and talk about the Dave Chappell Show. V: Yes, I did two skits, R. Kelly and The Three Dave's. I was actually supposed to do a third episode but while in California there were scheduling conflicts. I had a lot of fun doing The Chappell Show because there is a funny, comedic side to me; that no one has seen yet. It's very goofy and silly. MW: It's about to come out soon (Laughter). V: Yeah!!! (Laughter) It was very good (being on the show) because it shows that I can do something different. MW: Tell us about the Cassidy video featuring Mashonda “It Get's No Better”. V: The Cassidy video was basically…they seen me…and ask me to be in the video. I really don't want to do many more videos. You can get typecast by the industry as a “video hoe” and that is not a good look, so I am not trying to go there. MW: How much input do you have in protecting the likeness of your image and the way it's promoted. V: I know it's pretty annoying sometimes. Because when I first started doing this (modeling), there were only two or three sites up whenever you enter a search on my name. Now there are thirty-two thousand sites or links. They (freelancers) are just adding my name there. There's one called VidaNude.com! (She looks with disgust). I'm like Vida Nude!! What are you talking about??? (Laughter) I have a law firm that's working on that. It is just very hard to control or to stop it. MW: Yeah like wanting to nip it in the butt…speaking of nipping in the butt…because of that you've become a sex symbol. V: Ha, ha, ha…really! MW: No, I am serious. It has been put out there. You are referred to as “the global booty Queen”. V: Is that what's out there? (Laughter) MW: Yeah! A lot of people have made the comparison to J-Lo. Let's mention that you are from Havana, Cuba. V: Right, right…the whole Hispanic body, booty thing. It's so flattering for me to be compared to her (J-Lo) or even on that level. She's so up there. I would only hope to accomplish half of what she's done…ya know. It's truly an honor. MW: You are doing a calendar for the troop? V: Yes, I just finished a calendar shoot about two, three weeks ago in Jamaica. It should be out by the end of August. Yeah, it (calendar) will be out August/September. I will be visiting the troops in Afghanistan in September for fifteen (15) days. MW: Was the trip put together in an effort to promote the calendar or by your marketing team? V: No, I wanted to go. I got so much support from the troops when I did the FHM magazine; with tons of their e-mails. This is a way for me to give back – to boost their morale. They are fighting for our freedom. It takes a lot of courage to do this. If I can bring smiles to their faces by my presence being there, I will for 15 days. MW: One great thing about being involved with the entertainment industry is that we have the ability to impact people in a positive way. We would like to commend you for giving of yourself, remaining good natured prolonging your career. V: Basically…that is the type of person I am. How I accomplished where I am today. Initially, I never promoted myself and didn't have a website. It was people (fans) just knowing my name and passing it on by word of mouth. Later on, people were saying “oooohh got check out, vida'sworld” (vida'sworld.com) and it keep growing. I had twenty-one (21) million hit a month…every month. My website is down because we're revamping. It should be up in two weeks. MW: What is the name of your website? V: Vida'sworld.com…yeah because talking about control of your likeness of name. The second time I was in FHM (December 2003). We saw my name vidaguerra.com and someone tried to sell me my name for five (5) thousand dollars. My legal name as a website…someone trying to sell it to me! MW: It is a shame, how people try to capitalize. V: Someone is always trying to do something. MW: Tonight, here at Platinum Club, there is a lingerie fashion show. Who put that together for you? V: Basically… it was through the booking agent Mike Esterman. MW: Big-ups to the celebrity agent Mike Esterman V: I met him last year. He's really cool. Whenever he gets a gig, he just calls and we make it happen. MW: Another great part about being in this industry is networking with people to get you paid. V: Yeah! Thanks Mike Esterman. MW: So Vida means: Life and Guerra means: War? V: I can give you a lot of both. MW: You look like a combination of passion. V: Yeah…get on my bad side and we can really go to war. MW: You are to break-out in film…right? V: I did a short film last year called Writer's Block and the Miramax: Kakuy releasing in late October. I got the lead role, a character by the name of Bella Garcia. She is the last one left of the Shaman tribe and gets revenge. She kicks ass! Can I say that? MW: Yeah sure. Before we go, tell us what do you want how the entertainment industry. V: I basically want to be a household name and do movies. The modeling is good but it's just a stepping stone to get to the next level. I am looking to take advantage (of modeling) and trying to get there. MW: What useful advice could you provide for someone inspiring success in this industry? V: I always wanted to do this but never really focused… until one day someone told me, “No one is going to come knocking at your door. You've got to get it and believe in yourself”. There are so many haters, people trying to discourage you. Just do you and don't listen to negativity. Your mind is so powerful…you can accomplish it |

All Vida Guerra pictures contained on this page were collected freely from the internet and are believed to be in the public domain. Following the slight exposure, Guerra returned to her normal life. She took a job as a loans officer, but still kept her eye out for modeling opportunities whenever they came. After browsing through an FHM magazine, a close (and very wise) friend suggested she send in sexy pictures of herself. With nothing to lose, Guerra did just that.
